The Children’s Ministry team helps on Sunday mornings with the children of the church. You will be in charge of teaching a simple lesson to the kids during the sermon portion of the Sunday morning service. You will be provided with the lesson and materials for the week you serve. The heart of this ministry is to build the love and knowledge of Jesus in the lives of the kids of Maranatha Church.

Commitment: Once a month

Youth Ministry meets on Tuesday nights. Events and location vary by activity. The youth team members are responsible for helping with activities, monitoring children’s safety, playing with the kids, and give the kids opportunities to grow into a closer relationship with Jesus.

Commitment: Weekly from 6:30-9:00 pm

As a member of the tech team, you will be in charge of set-up and operation of the sound, graphics, and livestream equipment in a manner that keeps focus on worshipping God and hearing His Word for the Sunday service.

Commitment: One Sunday a month, including the Thursday night and Sunday morning worship practices for that week.

The worship team is responsible for leading people into worship through song and praise. Every member of the team leads people in praise and worship through “skill of hand and integrity of heart” (Psalm 78:72). Our worship team does not simply lead songs; we lead people by modeling a heart of worship.

Commitment: Once a month, or as available, including the Thursday night and Sunday morning worship practices for that week.

Please enter any experience you have with playing in a group or on stage.

The host is responsible for transitioning the church between the worship time and the sermon. You will pray to close our time in worship, give announcements, pray for and dismiss the children of the church, and prepare the way for the pastor to come and preach.

Commitment: Once a month

As part of the connection team, you get to be the smiling face that people first meet at the entrances of Maranatha Church. You will be encouraged to meet new and returning people and connect them to the body of the church and make them feel welcomed and a part. A further service role of the connection team will be to serve communion once a month on a rotation.

Commitment: Arrive 30 minutes before service starts. We would like to see our connection team members serve at least once a month, but you can always serve in this role weekly, if so desired!

On this team, you have the opportunity to be the most beloved person in the church, the one who provides coffee and treats for the church! You will prepare the coffee and treats for the fellowship time following the morning service, and then clean up afterwards. All supplies are provided.

Commitment: Once a month

On Eagles Wings is a ministry of Maranatha Church, reaching out to provide a hot pasta meal to anyone who has need every Sunday evening. As part of this team, you can help prepare the meal, serve the food, and/or sit with people and be a friendly person who shows the care and love of Jesus to others.

Commitment: Once a month on Sundays, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Are you handy? Do you like to work with your hands? Do you have a trade that you specialize in? As part of the Facility Maintenance Team, you can use your gifts to help maintain this beautiful facility we have been blessed with.

Commitment: As needs arise

The décor team is responsible for helping with decorating the church for special occasions and events. As part of this team, you have an opportunity to use your creative giftings to make the church beautiful!

Do you have a heart for the city of Nanaimo, and want to be a part of reaching out in ways that will have a positive, Kingdom impact? As part of the outreach team, you will be able to work with the leadership team of Maranatha to serve our city as the Lord leads.
